I thought Garcia was a Bill Walton fan, and would have probaly relished every thrashing the Blazers, Sonics, and Celtics put on that club in the regal purple and gold, (Garish uni.'s if you ask me, but my Cavs aren't known for laid back duds either.

oh, are you making a funny? (about last night's whoopin)

'Bron ain't laughin', he hurt his funny bone. As for myself, I can break the thunders loss down to this: It's the extreme tilt to the left in LA that make a team from Red State Okla shoot cock-eyed. Hopefully they will adjust for g#6 and take the "Fakers out in 7,

Actually, I don't recall any DEAD related sports stuff, other than for the Niners and the Giants, maybe A's?

Anyone else?

I think the Walton love went one way--but don't recall (ie, Bill loved them, but didn't keep up in the 80s and 90s to know if it was returned?).

And, if you've followed the Lakers as long as me, you can take any abuse anyone else can dish out. If you're not a Celtics fan, you don't have much ground to stand on agin me, eh?

JK. But you get the idea.

They outfitted the Lithuanian Olympic basketball team back in '92 after the break up of the USSR.

Quite all right WT, I actually had a heathy respect for both the Celts and Lakers, when I was younger. As I've said in the past when you call Cleveland the home team, you learn to develop a thick skin, of course thick skin trampled by; Da Bulls, Braves, Marlins,Broncos, Steelers, even occasionaly the team from down south (Bengals)So, my fakers comment was thrown in the spirit of a few to many beers in the peanut gallery.

If we (Cavs) can put the green men from Boston to sleep, Well then we're home free to steal us some magic. Christ talk about an up hill climb... Now I'm bummed again... the bright spot is ( dimmer than a baby's nightlite) Jamison is coming around and our bench contiues to be a threat. In Boston it's a totally different game, We are already battered and the Celts will get physical, but with any luck the calls won't all go Bostons way, KG throws one of several hissy's and LBJ is break dancin on the sidelines, LMAO at that...Peace PM

For what its worth, yours truly witnessed in person the game 4 schooling LeBron and co. put on my hometown Bulls, causing me to make this BOLD prediction: CAVS WILL SWEEP BOSTON!!!! 4-0 Bet on it, fellas

Asfor JG quote, my faves have been taken so I'll offer up my favorite vocal flub - from Touch of Gray - "see you got your lidt out, so take a pee and get out" Heard it on the Dead hour once, am not sure when it's from. Anyone heard that one and know its origin?

Lets hope so (though, if the Lakers do make it, I'd prefer a tired out Cavs team...).

I'm gonna try and steal some of your optimisim, here, Barring no serious injury w/ 'Bron's elbow, I feel you have a decent shot at your 4-0 prediction. Really sux waiting for the Bucks and Hawks to fight it out, Meanwhile Orlando is sitting in the rocking chair, and we're are up again Saturday. Crap! Oh well fun times here on the North Coast.

Aren't the Celts better than the Bulls?

Cavs in 6. It won't be easy. And I'm a Cavs fan.

Oh, I hope/assume you knew it was all in good fun; I am not one of those fans that takes it too seriously (though ask the wife about now!).

Recalling we have chatted now about the bball love we share--and I wouldn't be surprised if this is "your" yr. I defn see you coming out of the East, and well, as I always say, IF they play like they are capable (big "if), then I think Lakers/Cavs will be a great series.

But, as we have all seen of late, too many questions remain for my team: Bynum, the bench, and Artest's love of the 3 pt line...fingers crossed.

You guys look pretty good; I hope Shaq works out for ya...

Shag's fine, at least IMO. His lack of finesse makes me laugh, the damn ball rarely cooperates for him, (with his finger roll move). It can't be easy for a 38 yr old big man to spin and jam with authority nightly. And if I'm critiquing, well then his post up and pick&roll leave some to be desired.
I'm hosetly worried about our rotation now (Shaq getting to many minutes). But that's why they pay him the big bucks.

Hold on this is Garcia's thread, well...never mind

Favorite Garcia qoute; 2nd place "I'll get up and fly away"

I'm calling 911--people are hijacking this otherwise very cool thread!! Enough of the sports talk, you all need to get back to favorite Garcia quotes! Quite a few of these I had either not heard or forgotten about, and yes, he was a truly cool cat! Like the publisher of Rolling Stone said, Garcia was one of the few truly articulate rock stars he ever interviewed. I'm sure I'm not paraphrasing what he said correctly, but I think that was the gist of it.

It's crazy how much I still miss Jerry (RIP) . . .

Articulate? Yes. But he had other qualities commented on by journalists:

http://malfalfa1.tripod.com/garciainterview.htm

Excerpt: This interview with Jerry Garcia's love for acoustic guitars was conducted during the spring of 1985. From the moment he walked into his living room, it was apparent that Garcia was in physically bad shape. His prodigious body odor preceded him by the room’s length, and his beard and dirty black t-shirt were dusted with white powder. Fingers on both hands were blackened from their tips to the second knuckle. (Just four days later, Garcia was arrested in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park for smoking heroin in his parked car, a habit which likely accounted for the tar-stained fingers.) A few minutes into our conversation, Jerry toked on a joint of sensemilla and then fished a large rock of cocaine from his pocket. He chopped it into several rough rails, bent over, and snorted the whole thing without missing a beat of our conversation. Despite the drugs, Garcia proved to be both intense and articulate. He locked eyes throughout the interview, spoke quickly and seldom looked away.

one of my favorites; "But hey, when you live in Watts, you need a little smack to get by, you know what I mean? You need something soft and comfortable in your life, 'cause you're not going to get it from what's around you. And society isn't going to give it to you"
